A Superannuation Proceeds Trust (SPT) is a type of Testamentary Trust.  That is it is created under a Will.  It is funded only from superannuation death benefits (the balances of  the deceased).

A SPT has a limited class of beneficiaries – Tax Dependents of the deceased, i.e., the spouse and minor children.

As distributions will only be made to Tax Dependents a highly favourable tax result should be achieved.
