A Critical Success Factor (CSF) is something that is required for a business or organisation to succeed.

For example: Attract and retain new clients / customers.

Critical success factors can be linked with Key Performance Indicators (KPI) in that they can act as a measure of CSF.

Key Performance Indicators

The two could interact as follows:
KPI = Making my Working Capital into positive by increasing revenue by the end of the financial year.
CSF = Providing monthly marketing and sales workshops to your staff.
